What's the neatest "impulse" item you've bought at a coin store?

Dull night, so I'll inject something different.

Like most coin addicts, I stop at any store that has coin somewhere in its title. About a decade ago, I stopped in a Boston dealer's office to peruse his stuff...found a really cool toned 64D roosie, but I spent the big bucks on a Three Stooges collectible which included photos and autographs of my heroes -- Moe, Larry, and Curley..... Anyone else made a similar "impulse" buy?

Along the same lines, $1,800.00 for Curly's signature on a menu. Had buyer's remorse a couple days later and sold it.

BTW...Buyer's remorse wasn't for buying it, just for spending so much money on something I could have bought a nice coin for.

I was at a coin store that I hadn't been to in a while, a couple years or more. They had a bunch of crappy slabbed coins that didn't do anything for me. As I was about to leave, the owner told me he had some nice raw quarters that I could look at. They were nice and shiny and in good shape, like 64-66, and they were all under $10. I didn't want to go home empty handed, so I figured what the heck. I gave them a cursory look and took about five of the nicest ones. I didn't even look at them for about two weeks. When I actually looked at them carefully, I found two of them were DDO, 44-D&S. Pretty cool.

I bought just this last Sunday at a coin show a 1972 Cook Islands "God of Creation" one dollar.(darkside,I know) but the coin just cracks me up and for $8.95 I could'nt resist.Mintage of only 27,000 to boot.

One for sure was an 1802/1 Dollar VF35. I saw it in a local dealers case about 10 years ago and couldn't leave without it.

I also just ordered a coin on impulse because it sounded neat. It's something I NEVER buy (until now) - it's modern and not US. I'll post a pic when I get it.

I`ve already shown this alot of times and still get a big kick out of it. I`ve wanted to have a seated coin for a while and when I got this, It wasn`t on my mind to look for one. When I was done looking and getting what I had in my hands, I was walking up to the register to pay for what I picked out. As I was walking, I causually looked in one of the glass cases when this Seated Quarter stopped me in my tracks and had to have a look at it. The dealer pulled it out and realizing it wasn`t a piece of junk and being an attractive original I bought it right on the spot for $26.

The no date Buffalo Nickel was another impulse item that deserves a honorable mention. I got it a couple of months ago for $1.50 and for that price, it was worth it just to see peoples reactions.

I purchased a Star Trek The Next Generation "Tasha Yar" action figure in a local coin shop. It was original and in the box. They used to sell those at KayBee Toys in the late 80's and early 90's when the show was running. This coin shop is 90% coins, but there is a little table dedicated to odd collectibles, things like toys, militaria, etc.
Being a scifi fan, I thought it was pretty cool , and brought back alot of good memories and it was certainly an impulse buy.
