What was the price paid for the most inexpensive coin that you have submitted for grading? You do not need to list the coin if you feel the question crosses the line... however, there will be a point to this thread sometime. For me, it is under $10.00 and the coin was a 1962 Proof Franklin.

Hmmm ... one of my best recent picks would have to be $2.75 for a 1957 Jeff that went PR-67 CAM (45/8). The date is the rarest 1950s Jeff in CAM/DCAM... The coin is listed at more than $500 when you can find one.

For me, it was a rather nice, raw, 1909 VDB that I had to have.
I paid $7.00 for it, from the local dealer.
It was returned from PCGS as MS65RB. I'm super happy with it!

The cheapest one I've submitted was a toned Washington that I picked up for $3. Came back MS64. I've submitted many that I bought for under $10, including this Lincoln for $9:



Came back graded MS64RB and sold for a few bucks more than it cost me.

Just made a proof 67 DCAM 1957 half from a proof set I picked up for the split between bid and ask.

Bought a coin for less than $2 and sent it to ANACS... sold it for $40

It was a pretty coin, though...

Paid $45 for a raw toned 55D Roosie. Now in a PCGS MS68FB holder.
Paid $35 for a 47S Roosie that I pulled from an album (thanks colorfulcoins) NGC graded it MS68*.
Then crossed it to a PCGS MS68FB.
Paid $60 for a raw 46S off eBay. It graded MS68 at PCGS on the first shot.
Paid $200 for a blue toned 46S Roosie in a PCGS MS67 holder (thanks again colorfulcoins). Cracked it and
NGC graded it MS68*. Then PCGS crossed it to MS68FB.
Paid $180 for a 55S NGC MS67* Roosie off Teletrade. Crossed it first shot at PCGS at MS67FB pop 1.

I submitted a 1958-D Jefferson I bought several years ago at a show for $.25, it came back MS66FS and subsequently sold for slightly more.

I thought it would be a change of pace to start a thread that would provide encouragement in connection with different aspects of coin collecting...(1) It does not have to be a rich man's hobby; (2) There are plenty of inexpensive coins that fit into all budgets; (3) There is still alot of quality coins available at bargain basement prices... I liked the post about the 1958-D Jefferson that graded MS66 FS that was purchased for a whopping .25. I will be submitting other coins soon that may put me in the .25 club... that is if one existed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences

25c. I've submitted a statehood quarter I got in change and it graded MS67 (edit sold for $27 on eBay)

In the other direction, I've had coins be worth $1.25 after PCGS grading.

I sent in a 1939-D Jefferson that I got out of a change machine (in about 1985). Came back ms63 rev or 1938.

Came back MS67....worth just a few thousand bucks!!!

I just got a 1954P OBW roll of Lincoln Cents for $28.00 from Ebay. Four are at PCGS right now. I'm pretty sure they will all grade MS66RD. I have 6 more waiting that I also think will MS66RD!!
