Am I being nitpicky?

I bought an "original" roll of 55D Jeffs from an ebayer. Once received, I carefully inspected all of them and found a fingerprint on one, rim damage on another, and spots on several more of them. The description on ebay did not mention any of the previous problems. I asked the seller if I could get another roll and he said he'd replace the faulty coins. But wouldn't that breech the "original" value of the roll---I don't know if original would add much value to the roll. Am I being too picky?

Sounds like a tube of 55d jeffs. Who knows what's original and what's not in those. If the seller is willing to make you happy then go for it and good for them!

I'd take the replacement coins. There aren't really any "original" pre 1960 rolls around anymore. 99.9% of them have already been picked through for gems.

hmmmm... your saying .1% are unsearched.. Praytell, where do you get the data to back this statement up?

I've had a good run of finding some of that .1%.

You almost NEVER see original rolls at shows. All you see are put together rolls in modern tubes etc. If you don't think those have been picked through for gems, I have some "original" rolls I'd like to sell you.

Original rolls exist. I'm not refering to these tube jobs. Original bank wrapped rolls exist in greater then .1%.

I saw my share at Long Beach, and bought a few.... but there are sources for these. To say .1% is foolish.

chances are very good the seller did not own this roll for 47 years - probably selling what he thought he bought.

last chirstmas while working at blockbuster i got 5 rolls in all in wrappers that i never seen in my time. and it all had wheats from 1955 and earlier 1 had a indian head. could these 5 be original
