I've been considering a Chicago Blackhawks HOF Rookies set.

This is what I have so far:

    1940 O-Pee-Chee (V-301-2) Max Bentley 131
    1951 Parkhurst Bill Gadsby 37
    1951 Parkhurst Doug Bentley 48
    1951 Parkhurst Bill Mosienko 49
    1957 Topps Glenn Hall 20
    1957 Topps Pierre Pilote 22
    1958 Topps Bobby Hull 66
    1960 Topps Stan Mikita 14
    1969 O-Pee-Chee Tony Esposito 138
    1981 O-Pee-Chee Denis Savard 63

I can't identify the rookie card for Earl Seibert. The earliest I've been able to find is the 1939-40 O-Pee-Chee V301-1 #76.

I am not really a hockey card collector, but I know the sport, and some players come in my mind for a player set are these:

    -Wendel Clark
    -Kris King
    -Paul Coffey

But the players you have been suggesting are also very well.

    Good one.
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
  • I think all these subsets just make the Set Registy cluttered...my .02 CAD. I personally like to collect the All Star and Trophy Winner cards from the vintage 1960's sets. They make an excellent display if properly framed and you don't have to worry about collecting graded commons or non-stars.

I disagree. I think the Set Registry is for all collectors. I'm not a big hockey collector, but as a Chicago fan, I would collect Blackhawks rookies. Some people may only want to collect their favorite players, not some one else's idea of who or what they should collect. It's not like the presence of one set takes anything away from the other sets.

i disagree with the "cluttered" argument. as long as the sets registered dont affect you, how is it a problem? furthermore, anything to bring in new hockey collectors is a good thing in my book
  • yes, you guys are right. Anything to get you excited again. Southsider, Chicago was my favourite team when I was a kid in the late 1960's, I can still name them all.

I'm surprised there are Howe and Hull sets already. I'd like to see a Bobby Clarke set. And maybe an Eric Lindros set as long as it included only Flyers cards. I can't get used to seeing him in a blue shirt.

Certainly all the variations that have been done with baseball will eventually be done in the other sports. With hockey you'd have Calder, Hart and Vezina winners, player sets of all the big names and some small ones, classic teams, and all sorts of statistical milestones.
    WANTED:

Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

I'm actually with tripoli on this one. (Then again, I actually kinda liked the ill-fated drop-down boxes on the Registry home pages.) It's true that it doesn't really affect me, but I can't help but let out a groan every time I scroll down and see those Steve Kariya basic and master sets. Oh well, at least someone actually registered cards to them - unlike, say, the Josh Fogg sets on the baseball Registry page.
