PSA Registry Site improvements?

The recent thread by Carlos regarding the population report updating in real time, got my brain squirming about other possible improvements for the PSA site. One thing I have always wanted would be the ability to get a “cards needed to complete the set” report from the site. This would really help on the larger sets especially when you get over 75% and would cut down on all that manual imputing of cards in spreadsheets or collectors software. I'm sure I'm not the only guy that bought a card I already had.
What other things could they do to help out? I’m sure you guys have a lot of great ideas. Maybe they will listen to us!

  • I'd like to see PSA offer a premium pop report subscription that would look something like this...

    - You could get a complete list of cert numbers by grade for each card (including cards returned ungraded), and see the date each card was graded (and perhaps even the invoice number). It might also be nice to see any notes PSA has about the card (perhaps who the finalized was, if the card was a cross-over, type of service, etc)

    - You could create custom reports including selecting which cards to include and in which grade, etc.

    - You could create reports that included both SMR and pop report data, and all reports would be downloadable in .csv format minimally.

I have this idea that the premium subscription would be sold in three ways... you could either buy a particular set, an entire sport or the entire database. A single vintage set would run $49.99 on the low end for a small set to 149.99 for any set that had more than 500 cards. Modern sets might be a flat $49.99 per set. A single sport might run $500-$1000 per year while the entire database woule cost you $2500 or so per year. You'd also need to be a PSA member, AND either have the set registered in the registry or be a PSA dealer to get it. The higher price and qualifications should stop most of the scammers who were just there to harvest cert numbers.

Anyone else interested in somethign like this?

This is something I currently have working, but I don't have it available on a web sight yet. I'd love to make some improvements to the PSA provided registry/pop reports data, but as long as PSA is charging for Pop Report access it really isn't feasible.

    Side,

Can we have at least one more decimal place?

Here is one that I still would like to see.

  • How about highlighting (or otherwise making visually distinct) new cards added to a player Master Set? When dealing with larger sets, it's really frustrating having to manually identify new additions to the set composition (especially when only a few cards have been added). A minor inconvenience perhaps, but one that should be fairly easy to remedy ...

The POP report can only be a guide. There are so many inaccuracies it can never be a true accounting of the cards graded. Just look at the 1969 White Letters, they have that so screwed up that most would think the yellow letters are the tough ones.

JR, great idea but I don't think anybody would pay those prices. The most I would pay for info about any particular set is maybe a couple bucks.

I would like to have a "My Collection" page. For insurance purposes, it is good to have a spreadsheet of cards and cert numbers. The SMR could interface with the spreadsheet every month.
