I know you've heard enough about paypal recently but...

have you heard/realized that they're assessing fees regardless of the buyers payment method? Well, I have! Call me ignorant or whatever you'd like, but I knew that when you accepted CC via paypal for purchases you're assessed a fee. COOL, I can accept that! However, I didn't know that they assessed fees when buyers paid via other means(existing funds in paypal account or directly from checking account). My most recent experiment, thanks to those at this forum for whom were expressing their views about accepting CC via paypal from buyers, has brought to my attention that they're charging me even when the buyers are paying me directly from their existing funds in PP acct. or their respective checking acct. WHAT IN THEE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? I'd appreciate some feedback...imageimage = image

Why would they provide a service for free??? Do you expect a check from your boss/firm on a regular basis for services rendered???
    Sheesh.

Thats why I went back to the free account instead of the premier account. Had a dime on ebay that sold for a .11 and .40 to ship for .51 total. The buyer paid from his paypal account and paypal charged me .31 for the transaction.

I ended up with .20 for the dime and shipping and a stamp alone costs .37!

Anyway that was enough to have my account downgraded to a personal account and now all my auctions have in them "NO CREDIT CARDS THROUGH PAYPAL"

If you start with a personal (free) account there are no fees, but you can't accept a payment from a credit card. In order to accept a credit card payment your account has to be upgraded o a business account and you are charged the fee on that payment. BUT once you have upgraded your account you are then charged the 2.9% fee on ALL payments received no matter what the source of the payment is. That is why you see so many auctions that say NO CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS THROUGH PAYPAL! They have personal accounts and don't want to upgrade them because they will then be charged the fees.

In my state of bliss thinking I'm doing the right thing by accepting paypal credit card payments, something was overlooked by me in the ''Fine print" area of the upgrade user agreement. Oh well! Now i gotta figure how to close it out w/o getting shut out completely...What a pain in the A$$!...image

it's a service, it's convenient, and it costs money. But my time is valuable and I gladly accept and pay with paypal and the small fees are worth it. I understand that some people don't like these fees and don't want to pay for the service, and therefore don't use it. God bless America.
