PCGS Turnaround time

Hi all...

The PCGS turnaround time for economy submissions is now 40 calendar days or less. We will keep working on it to get it even lower. Thanks for your patience this year.

    Is that retroactive to 11.13.03?

PS: It's okay if it's not retroactive to one week earlier. image

I gotta question for homerun. Since the "influx"/ hiring of these NEW GRADERS, and I'll presume competence in grading is their fortay, will coins be graded on a much greater level of competence or the 'ole' "zippity-zip" and it's out the door competence. It has to do with "Keepin' up with the Jones's" so to speak! I'm sure you get my drift...image

    Great job, thank you! image

My last economy submission took about six calendar weeks door-to-door, so it was much faster than the 40 days! IMO, one month door-to-door (20 days?) for an economy submission would be a reasonable goal.

Great! My submission received 11-13 should be ready in about a week then. 10 coins. I'm predicting 7 AU-58's and 3 bodybags.

I sent in a Regular submission and a Modern submission which were both received on 10/22.
I received the Regular grades on 11/10 and the Modern grades on 11/14. Faster than expected in both cases.

Yes, I, too, had a coin submitted with a friend's that was received on Nov. 18, the day after HRH's post, and the coin still has not been graded. My subsequent submissions have gone to NGC.

Very disappointing...I have not sent a coin to PCGS in months. NGC has recieved $10,000 of biz from me last year (although I would rather use PCGS, all things being equal!).

PCGS is the best! That's why their coins sell for more, because no other service even comes close! Only PCGS for me! If you aren't buying PCGS coins, you're paying too much! That's because they are the best!

Truth is, 3 or 4 months is too damned long. Moderns have crept above 50 days too. Add to that the holidays and the show schedule and the travel days, and I'm not sure PCGS is grading mail-in's anymore. LOL I've gotta tell ya, the other services have kind of spoiled me. PCGS can't help it they're busy, and I say good for them. I'm just not that patient, and it doesn't matter that much which holder my coins are in if it is one of the top three. If I've got anything that HAS to be in a PCGS holder, it'll go regular submission, but based on the price, that'll only be coins I'm gonna sell that require a PCGS holder to sell for stupid money.

Why then am I seeing an INCREASE from 60 to 65 days economy on your web site.....image
  • Options
    RGLRGL Posts: 3,784
Now, that is a heck of a feat, think of it: In two months, economy turnaround goes from 40 calendar days (or less) to 91 calendar days (65 business days = 13 weeks = 91 days + days for holidays, shows, etc.). Even presuming things backed up due to increased submissions due to supposedly shorter turnaround, the holidays, shows, how is it even possible that the turnaround more than doubles? image

I for one, am getting a bit tired of the old bait and switch on turnaround time estimates ...

The word "calendar" was dropped from the notice on the submission page a couple days ago. According to those who've called, it's now "business" days.

I thought I had read that correctly! Now there is no easy way to increase the times without being straight forward about it!

I know many many folks who are sending coins across the street because of turn around times!

Seems PCGS would realize this, but if they are full, then maybe they don't care. I'm plenty of folks are sending stuff in on the 15 day service!

I'm glad you did this. Thanks for the assist. I thought I remembered something about things were gonna get better. In the case I am ranting about... "IT AIN"T NO ECONOMY JOB...IT" A $30 A COIN "GUARANTEED" 15 DAY SERVICE!" shipped 12-9. It allegedly took a week to get there(maybe) But they say it was shipped on 1-19...THAT WAS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY! THERE WAS NO MAIL RUN NEXT FIB!! AND YES I AM HOLLERING!image Raising hell the way I did might have something to do with the grades I got.image GEE....YA THINK SO?!!

I have a new strategy..........I'm trying to send in at least one batch a month now. After the initial "long" wait....I'll
be getting a batch back at about the same rate I'm sending them out. But, this is not a business for me,....thus. I am
in no real hurry anyway. I can see where it would be bothersome at best, if it were my livelyhood and I needed
them back quicker. Didn't some one say?...."Anything worthwhile is worth waiting for!"image

I've come to the conclusion that, unless any given piece is really worth a lot of money, just submit your items using the economy tier-as the gentleman said above me - on a monthly basis and just forget about it...you'll get em when you get em!image

It would seem to me that he'd be happy the high bidder retracted so that now he has a chance of winning the coin he demonstrated he obviously wanted by placing his bid in the first place.

It seems apparent to me that this applies to reg. submissions too. I be awaitin'...image
