Another extraordinary Rose result!

1970 Pete Rose AS PSA 8

$201.23!!!

SMR (for what it's worth) is $65.

I don't know why I continue to be amazed by the prices his cards fetch but I do.

It also just happens to be the one 1970 card I don't have a copy of - it is one of those OCs from hell like the'69 Brock. So maybe the top three bidders are just like me and have got fed up waiting for an NQ card to show up.image

Those '70 AS cards are always tough due to thin borders which results in chronic poor centering. I think an Aaron AS recently went for over $300. I think that Rose card is on most of our want lists. So I'm not surprised with the strong bidding.
  • The closing price was fairly consistent with previous eBay results for this card in PSA 8 (and who knows what the first PSA 9 would sell for if one ever gets graded). Over the past two years, the card has never sold for less than $115 (that one had a distracting print spot if I remember correctly), and has also sold as high as $258. Yes, the SMR is a little off on this one image.

  • Is that a touch of white on the bottom left of the 71 Rose or just the scan?
  • This is a pretty borderline 8 as well on the 70 PSA 8 AS given the centering
Collector of baseball PSA sets from the 1970's & hockey rookie cards; big New York Rangers fan (particularly now that they are sleeping with the enemy with Holik and Kaspiritus). Also starting to collect 53 Bowman Color as I think they are the most beautiful cards I have seen.
