I bid on this coin....

and no one else bid up until the last 6 seconds.

opening bid was 49.99 or 49.95 (i forget)

so I "over" bid just in case someone might snipe me. (which is o-k by me...if it happens , it happens)

my "over" bid is sniped in the last 6 seconds.....now the auction is over and my "over" bid has lost by 1 dollar.

within minutes I recieve a email offering me a "second chance" to buy the same coin....only now at my maximum bid.

stating that the top bidder couldn't complete the sale

seems to me the seller could have a shill out there bidding and canceling just to see what you would have paid for the coin...then offering

it to you as a "second chance offering" at that maximum bid.........do people do this stuff?....is my theory all wet?

no matter what that looks to be a nasty spot behind abe's melon. I'd pass on it.

I have sprung for second chance offerings in the past, but only when offered by DHRC. I think I can trust them to have several more of subj coin tucked away. I doubt that this one was any kinda of scam, tho.

Here's a "doubled die" the winner of this auction got a couple months ago... "doubling" sure... Doesn't look like doubling to me. Not sure why I added a link to that auction, but it is funny to see what people call doubling.

I'm no expert on penny varities but that sure looks like machine doubling to me.

The time frame is very strange. I'd never snipe an auction and tell the seller "within minutes" that I couldn't complete the deal. I would procrastinate a few days and try to get my $$ together or see what payday was going to look like before I backed out of a deal and risked a neg, especially over a $50 coin.
I would pass on a "2nd chance."

I have had this happen before in the same time frame. I mean, I was watching the auction and refreshed the page in the last few seconds and seen I lost and nearly at the time the auction closed got a "Second chance offer". I countered with a lower price than what the coin sold for and he passed saying he would just auction it again. My response was to go ahead. Cost him ebay fees again as I think he had a shill bidder.

was 2nd high bidder on an item - some time later (not sure on minutes) the winner/high bidder asked me a question through eBay


they say they were buying it for a gift, but that person did not want it - they already paid for the item but would be willing to sell it to me for my high bid -


I am considering it, but because of them - my high bid was $10 higher than the next high bid without them

then says they can't pay 5 minutes later. It's a scam.

Don't buy it. There are times when the second chance thing is good, but this aint one of them. Most likely the winner is a shill bidder IMHO.

I can see how it could happen.
Buyer uses sniping service. Either forgets to cancel snipe, or changes his mind too late, after the bid is beyond "failsafe" time to withdraw. Not that I'm saying that's the case here, but it's possible...

My sound was turned WAY UP and I couldn't figure out why the squirreldance started blasting.
By the way a big PASS on the coin for reasons touched on above.

You got ripped off. Its the latest scam, to see how high a person acually bid they get a fake ID or a friend to shill the auction then all too fast after to ending its offered to the original high bidder. Pass on that fact alone. If thats not good enough, the coin is not some double die and its got a noogie on the obverse. I'd consider it junk and pass. Third, what the he$$ is that music????

Definitely fishy.

The coin has a big ugly spot , so you wouldn't want it anyway.

Tell the seller where he can put his coin(no, maybe you shouldn't do this).




I did kind of like the music in a sick way, though.
