1943 DDO 25c FS-016.7 Washington 25c... PICS added

My newest acquisition today. Where do I find the book that recognizes this variety? It's a 1943 DDO quarter that I've never heard of but bought it because it is recognized by PCGS so I bought it. MS64 in my opinion. Any opinions?? Only 2 graded by PCGS so I hope it's a keeper?? Quarter guys please help!!image

    FS stands for Fivaz-Stanton. Bill Fivaz and J.Stanton are among the most recognized authorities on die varieties in the hobby. They publish the Cherrypicker's Guide which catalogues the major die varities among all U.S Federal Series. Contrary to popular belief, PCGS and NGC do not recognize all of the varities in this guide, as some are controvercial, but for the most part, they do recognize 90% of them.
    I would encourage you to get this guide if you have even the slightest interest in varieties. The first several chapters that stress the difference between mechanical/strike/machine/Longacre doulbling vs. true die doubling is priceless.

    The FS#25-016.7 is an example of Class I, Rotated Hub Doubling.

    It exhibits an extremely strong clockwise spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the date, designers initials, ribbon, queue, lips, nose, eyelid and eybrow. Die Markers: Obverse - Numerous horizontal die scratches N.E. along front forehead just above the eyebrow. Reverse: Numerous circular die scratches through the eagle's upper right body and right wing.

    Estimated Value: XF $250 - AU $500 - MS60 $750 - MS63 $1250 - MS65 $1750.

    This information is from the book "The Best of the Washington Quarter Doubled Die Varieties" by John Wexler and Kevin Flynn.

    Thanks for all the info guys. That's exactly what I have as described and pictured on Jose Cortez' Washington quarter website. It is exactly the coin that Mr. Wexler has attributed to him. I am going to figure out the pic thing today and will post as soon as I have mastered it. I think this is my best cherrypick in a long time!

    The pics are just ok. I couldn't get a decent pic of Liberty but In God we trust came out pretty well. It was in a off brand slab until today. If the link doesn't work I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Opinions are welcome!!

    ... Uhm, not quite. Your image host first asked me to create an account, then asked me for a password to view your pics.

    From the one image I did see, I don't think your coin is the big DDO for the date. There are several dozen doubled die obverses on 1943 quarters, but only the one pictured inthe Cherrypickers' Guide realizes the premiums you see in the price guides.

    If you don't mind my asking, which "off-brand slab" was this coin in when you acquired it? One in particular is rather liberal in throwing around terms lke "doubled die," and I have seen FS numbers on holders which do not correspond to the coin it contained.

    Doesn't appear to be the "big" one (11-O-I) from the image. The doubling on 11-O-I is very similar to, though stronger than the 1943-S 1-O-I.

    i think its not so much that Rush calls those states in middle America flyover states.
    i think hes referring to what the Hollywood elite calls them.
    they dont even know what states are there, or even really care. they,re just `flyover states`.
    as in `literally and figuretivly` beneath them.
