Mercury Dimes are so tough to find, I started Roosevelt sets, too.

As I am getting board without finding the Mercury dimes I need, I have started Roosevelt Dimes (1946-1964) and (1965-date). As I look through the few Roosevelts I have at this point, I think they are easier to grade. So far the grades range from MS66 to MS68 with my 1951-S being an MS66FB. I think the set will be fun, and I will do my searching at coin shows for nice mint state coins.

Good luck with the Roosies - they seem to be getting more popular too - I'm sure you'll have fun but don't stray too far away

I am not giving up on the Mercury Dimes, I am just going to work on more than one set of coins with FB designations. There is no substitute for my favorite series (the Mercs).
I want to make most of the Roosevelts. I have a bunch already picked out and there is a bunch of toning going on with the ones I will be submitting. Yes. You read that right I said TONING!

I've seen some gorgous toned examples around - maybe I'll look abit closer next time.

This set will be fun, but nothing will match the Mercs!

Nice looking dime. I like the Barber coins, too. Maybe sometime in the future... Good luck with them. Let me know when you pick up may favorite date coin 1894-S!

Then again maybe not........

I posted to this thread without reading anything. Your comment on the Barber Dime put me on the floor rolling. You better PM me on that dime.

I just can't get real excited about Roosies. I had the silver set completed over 30 years ago. The only ones that will ever be worth anything in my lifetime are the high grade FB coins. I'd rather go backwards, and try to get a Barber dime from each year they were minted. In the lower circulated grades, they're about as plain as Roosies, but I like 'em in MS.
Wayne, here's a 1901-P in 64:

Those are from a simpler time. I think they are better looking than the Roosevelt. If my budget allowed I would go backwards!
