When will the general media notice gold and the CRB?
...and why have they been so steadfastly ignoring these moves to date?
The CRB has gone from around 180 to more than 257 in just several months and gold and silver are sharply higher. Why is this being ignored by media and even by the business papers and broadcasters?

Good point. I have no 100% answer to it. As coin collectors we have access to some commodities (like gold and silver) so these are on our radar screen. If we were not collectors, most of us would be clueless to the price of gold or other commodities. The average guy is not reading the literature that talks about these changes. If he is, then he is ignoring it as "voodoo economics" because all the CNN prophets, newpaper advisors, and most other financial consultants have seen commodities so thoroughly trashed for the past 20 years that they give it no mind.
I never understood why gold did nothing from 1980 thru the 1990's. I just figured it was DEAD for good. A basically useless relic from the past 5000 years of recorded history. Then I read some articles by some gold bugs in late 2001 explaining the gold lease game. It finally made sense. All along I figured gold had no purpose as an investment or hedge anymore. But it was manipulation that has strangled it. The average guy doesn't know about this, or the 170 trillion in derivatives that supports the financial markets. There's so much that the average Joe doesn't know (me too).
The general media won't recognize gold until it has broken $450 or $500. And it won't be until it is much higher and reported on the nightly news that Joe Average will think of buying some. The name of the game is stocks. That's what corporate America wants us to invest in...not gold or copper....nor cotton or cattle futures. Those don't get reported when they do well.
roadrunner
when it does something sensational - like walk into a McDonalds and kill 20 people or 100% retuen in 6 months - or highest high in 20 years
CRB
never - less than 5% of the people know what a CRB is - less than 1% know what the Commodity Research Bureau" is - less than .01% can give you any inkling how that index is calculated
While this is no doubt an abberration of some sort, it will get peoples' attention
and is surely indicative of something. With the CRB soaring some future increases
would seem to already be built in. CPI numbers are out next week. While these
may not reflect increases yet, they will eventually, and then there should be more
attention directed to these changes.
