<< <i>I am heartened to know that NGC MIGHT be giving better grades to original skin coins.
On second thought, I would like to retract that statement. Original skin should be the expectation, and any deviation from original (dipping/old, light cleaning) should result in a reduction of the assigned grade. That way, there is incentive to keep the coins as original as possible, but no upward grade/price creep. >>
Rick, I agree with you on what the expectation "should be" in an ideal world. Unfortunately, the reality is often very different from that.
With regard to the ratio of PCGS to NGC no-motto Coronet gold:
I was looking on eBay (where I almost never go) at the no-motto eagles and noticed that the ratio of PCGS to NGC was, if not 50-50, then at least 40-60 PCGS/NGC.
I feel better now. At least they're out there - now if only I could find them at the shows I go to!
Comments
I guess all I have to say now is: All right, all you people who own PCGS-slabbed no-motto gold - cough it up! I want to see it!
