According to the Redbook, the heaviest US dollar coin was the Trade dollar at 27.22 grams.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

31.1 grams is one troy ounce so this 31.24 gram planchet is really close to one troy ounce

It is probably an unstruck silver round blank.

The silver eagles weigh 31.101 grams. Do you have a blank or a planchet? I assume by your mentioning it as a T1 that it is a blank. It might be a blank intended for a silver eagle. I think 291fifth was referring to a blank intended for a silver round. It could be that, as well. If you could provide more information about it, that might help more to determine what it is. image

I think this must be a T1 Planchet for a American Silver Eagle.

I got this from the mint :

The American Eagle Silver Proof Coin contains 99.9% silver. The one ounce coin has a $1 face value and is 1.598 inches in diameter, contains 0.999 silver troy ounces and weighs 1.0000 troy ounces.

The weight match and its diameter is 1.5 inches, but it unstruck and a T1 planchet.

Could that explain for the .098 in. difference in diameter?

I guess it is a blank, no rim. Thanks

The force of the strike on the planchet (tons of pressure) would cause it to spread out, so that would explain the difference in diameter, I would think. I do not have the figure on how many tons of pressure is required to strike a silver eagle, but it's a lot. Just in case you don't know, when the round discs are punched out of the metal strips, they're called blanks. They have not yet been prepared for striking. After they go through the upset mill (which produces the rims) they are then called planchets; they are ready to be struck. When the planchet is struck, it becomes a coin. Referring to Type 1 and Type 2 planchets is actually not correct. You could say Type 1 blank and Type 2 planchet, or just blank and planchet. The Type 1 and Type 2 designations are really not necessary. image

Thank you very much for everyone's help.

In conclusion this is an American Silver Eagle blank which weights 1 troy oz. and has a diameter of 1.5 inches.
