GOETZ: Opus 77 Bavarian Pattern Proofs

Hi all, I've been meaning to get these imaged for the past 6 weeks since I bought the presentation set. As with the Prussian set, this came to me in the original box and had been in the ownership of a family in Belgium for the past 85-90 years. The box contains a 10, 20, 2, Drei (3), and 5 Mark proof piece.

And here is a close-up image of the 5 Mark reverse. Note the how it has been double struck particularly along the left hand side of the five but also all the lettering, under the wing on the left, etc.. The entire reverse has been rotated counter-clockwise and struck again.

great looking set S. And the double struck piece is an added bonus. I hope the set I just won looks as good as yours.

Cosmic, if your set does then you got a helluva deal!! BTW, this was in no way intended to be a pre-emptive image strike, just needed to get them done and shown off. image

I look at it as a preview of things to come. By the way mine is a Christmas present when it comes in I have to surrender it to my better half until Christmas. I am hoping I can at least sneak an image of the 5 Mark before I have to hand it over.

Nice set, Cache. Are there any fingerprints or smudges?

  • The eyeglasses on the 2, 10 and 20 mark coins is one of the cooler features I have seen on a coin. Such great detail.
    Congrats on the great set.
