    I don't like Superior's pictures. PCI=RAW

I'll bet it looks much better in person. I could see NT.

The pictures are terrible. How can anyone even tell if the coin is uncirculated or not?

Artificial toning via iodine and heat. In the late 80’s early 90’s a bunch of high-grade commemorative coins were made by a single doctor. The better services including ICG and ANACS will not holder coins with this pattering.

You can always tell this type of art toning by the way the toning “cracks” across the coin. If the coin is placed under a heat lamp it will continue to turn black.

That is one funky Texas for sure. Looks really familiar, was it recently on ebay or something? I just can't place it but I know I saw it somewhere.

PLEASE take that statement back. TBT's forehead is large enough without the inflation of that comment. image

Good point... I misread what it said. I thought it said, after reading quickly, was housed in a PCI 68 holder, as they have it graded at 67 image

Thanks guys. Our experience with these types of art coins turned out to be a very expensive lesson……very expensive. image

Our research information at that time came from NGC, Larry Shepherd (Simco Coins), David Schweitz, Mike Faraone (ANACS) and Brian Silliman (NCS). I would recommend sitting down with any of these folks to learn about toning or the history / origin of different types of toning.

Wow, it looks JUST like many coins I have seen with original mint set toning from the mid 1950s and before. Obviously, this is not from an original mint set but it fits that type of NT pattern.

    Hmmmm.

(Anyway, I do agree that it should NOT be bought unless in a PCGS or NGC holder).
