Question on sub-variety
I picked up "The Complete Lincoln Cent Encyclopedia" by Shane M. Anderson. Was just scanning the book store and it looked interesting. Brought it home and found it answered a few questions I've had for awhile now.
Anyways there is one term in the book that isn't fully answered, it's "sub-variety". The book states "A coin that, by consensus, is not needed to form a complete set , i.e. 1955 PMDD".
Question is. What other varieties fall in this catagory.
I can think of a well known die crack on a low mintage coin?
Maybe a die gouge on same?
What else?
Thanks, Mike
