ANR Classics Sale Catalog

Hi,

Just received the catalog for the Dec. 1 Classics Sale. Pretty spectacular, from paper to patterns to classic coinage.

I have no connection to ANR, just thought this might be of general interest. Auction lots are at:

anrcoins.com

Enjoy,
-Brian

I viewed a couple of the lots from this sale and was particularly intrigued by this one:

    Lot 330

Did you catch that about the Garrett pedigree? I like the way ANR handled that.

I'd say that's pretty honest! I wouldn't expect less from that group.

a slight slap in the face is what it looks like to me. Makes me wonder about my eliasberg pedigreed coins I have in PCGS holders.

Maybe it belonged to Jeff or Henry Garrett? image

Seriously, has anyone checked all of the Garrett sales to confirm this? Maybe it was in the 1976 Stacks sale?

A really outstanding catalog. Same comment as before...would expect nothing less from this team. Not bad for their third catalog!

    Hi all:

I wrote this coin up for the ANR sale. There were two VERY similar Oak Tree twopences in the 2002 Hain sale of Massachusetts Silver -- the Garrett coin and this coin, which were offered in consecutive lots. This is undoubtedly the cause of the label confusion.

I did not intend it to be a slap in the face, just a truthful reflection of what the coin is. This catalogue will be around long after we're all dead and gone, so why not take a chance to correct the record rather than let people wonder why you didn't?

No matter what the provenance, it's a great coin.

Thanks for the nice compliments on the sale -- we appreciate the kind words and the support.

The description is accurate and critical, in the sense of critical analysis. It is not mean spirited or a "slap in the face." There is a big difference, and I appreciate it when writers are accurate and critical in the sense first described.

    Great catalogue!

    Doug
