2000 Liberty Concept Dollar Pattern

Concept dollar produced by the Gallery Mint (well-known for faithful reproductions of famous US coins) as part of the effort to get a $1 coin in circulation The reverse design on this pattern was one of the finalists for the coin that eventually became the Sacagawea.

The same diameter as a Sacagawea but struck in a piedfort presentation style (extra thick planchet) on brass alloy. The mintage was limited to 2500. A neat part of history, especially for a Sacagawea collector.

(ICG certifies these as a private pattern, and they bring over $100 on eBay that way.)
