Help with Kointains and Dansco
I have been assembling a set of Jefferson nickels in proof and unc over the past year, and I have been unable to decide how to house the set. Currently, they reside in 2x2's in a 2x2 box, but I really like the idea of placing the set in an album. Originally, I liked the idea of the intercept shield albums, but from reading the board, many people are not happy with the quality, the technology or the lack of expansion. I am leaning toward dansco's instead, but I want to include proofs in the album and have read that dansco's cause spotting and haze on proofs, sometimes. I like the look of bright, untoned, as-minted coins, especially for this raw set of moderns.
So what I propose and would like info/feedback on is:
I buy a jefferson dansco without the proof ports. I then buy nickel kointains for the proof and sms nickels. I then get a blank dansco page (or two) with openings the size of the OD of the kointains and put that at the end of the album.
Does anyone see any problems with this setup?
Does anyone not like Kointains based on their ability to safely store coins?
What is the OD of nickel Kointains, in millimeters?
How does the preprinted dansco work with the 2004 and 2005 change in the nickel design?
Do you see 2003 as the end of the Jefferson nickel series, or is it a temporary change viewed like that of the bicentenials of 1976?

Don't know about your other questions, but the Jeff nickel album without proofs (#7113) is $24.45 and blank pages are available with different sized holes, for a nickel in a cointain the 22 or 23 mm holes would probably work (a Jeff nick is 21.2 mm) The blank pages list for $4.25 each.
Call Dansco at (323) 734-6373, I've found them to be very helpful.

I have a Jefferson Dansco w/proofs. I also like toned proof Jeffs so I have an extra blank page at the end that's now full. I love the Dansco albums because you can set them up however you like.
