    I happen to know that seller very well. I've bought from him numerous times on both eBay, and privately, and I can vouch for him being a good guy and a very knowledgable numismatist. So this listing has me mystified. He probably made some sort of mistake - maybe had a different coin in mind when he described it.

    Yikes! I once got a "prooflike" seated Liberty dime that was toned charcoal black. image

    Charcoal Black sounds like more than a bad day. Was it from a fire dammage sale.

    So that's what Andy's ebay ID is. Didn't know he sold there.

    We deal with this guy pretty regularly in person at shows. He usually picks up some stuff from us. He's fair. Probably just a bad image or error in the listing.

    Although the coin is currently in rather deplorable condition, being a Maundy penny, it was minted as a Proof-Like coin.
