1981 Fleer Baseball - Comments Please

The Dale B. Wedge Set - I've added Owner's Comments to almost all of the cards in the set along with jpegs.

If anyone has any commentary on any player, card, tidbit of information, etc., let me know and I'll add it in the Comments Section.

You will be properly quoted.

Thanks,

  • Dale, great stuff. Printed it out and will review in more detail. First name I saw w/o info was Dickie Noles. The thing I remember about Noles was when he put George Brett on his 'roids during '80 series. Game 4. Phils up 2 games to 1, but Royals coming on. Noles throws high & tight to Brett, Brett flipped, they stared each other down and the Phils went on to win the WS. They didn't win b/c of Noles, but he played an important role.

    dale,
great stuff! i remember the roland office card was the last card i needed to finish my set in 81. probably doesn't deserve comments in your set but a bit of history from a registry member.

Dale,I had found a website that had a bunch of things from players I could find from 1980 which probably there are quite a few of in your set too.

give me your email address and later tonight I'll pull some stuff I swiped into word pad on my old computer.Everything from Batting titles,CY young years,HR totals,etc..
  • Yeah, if anyone has memories, etc., that they would like included, my email address is:

Wow. This is what collecting is all about. Picking a favorite set and going with it. A nice job!

Dale,I had a copy on the newer computer in notepad but try to download and open in Word.
The older computer is giving me problems but I'll try again later if it's a problem for you to read it.

Mike Vail tied rookie record by hitting safely in 23 consecutive games for the mets in 1975.

  • You are absolutely insane!!! You need to be committed!! Do you not have a life?? This is one of the worse sets ever!!

It would take a really sadistic person to even think about competing with you for top honors in the ’81 Fleer set. Several Jack Nicholson movie roles come to mind.

Okay, I had to get that off my chest.

Just so that I can say that I was a small part of this madness, here’s a little tidbit.

Card #47 – Pete La?ock – I do believe he is the son of former Hollywood Squares host Peter Marshall. The reason I know this is that as a kid I remember a question on the show. “What is a grand slam in baseball?” I don’t remember if it was answered correctly or not (I would hope so) but he made a comment that his son, Pete La?ock, had hit one for I believe the Kansas City Royals.

Sorry about the ? in the last name. It would let me post a reply spelling it correctly with the c.

    Another one bites the dust.

Good luck with this ridiculous endeavor.

i love what dale is doing. some of the best collections out there and not one picture or comment? i could look at dale's set all day long just because he post pictures and comments . how many times can you look at a set and admire numerical grades? "wow john doe has a 9 on a 72 john doe card but i can't look at it so oh well".
    top registry players
virtualizard(takes the time to post not only the front but the back too)
dan markel( post pictures of every card)
chrisk(70 topps got all the pics there)
    yawie(another picture poster)
    raym8(another hockey picture poster)
    ullr(pictures of all his auto's)
i am sure i am missing a few but whats the sense if you can't show off the cards you own.
i also think that psa should add hit counters to your set registry page?just a thought.i would know if people are looking at my hard work?
or maybe it's just in vain?
