The gold fanam weight is 0.3 to 0.4 gms. Can't say the gold content exactly.

I checked out eBay and they look interesting. They are very small and have so many varieties. Tempting but it is just not my current area of collecting. Hopefully, someone will be along to give it a good home.

nanda , do you know how to identify them?

I've recently bought 3 of them: the first two came from a local dealer with the inscriptions "MADRAS" and "MYSORE" on them respectively.

The third one however ,has the unmissable description from a member of this forum; it's not helpful,but very funny,let alone that when he'll become a well-known authority on Darkside coinage identification,the holder will become an historical and invaluable item

PS- as Dimitri so courteously pointed out, I am still clueless on how to attribute them, as Krause offers little help on the subject. Perhaps someone can point us in the right direction.

The Fanam is from the state of Coorg. No date is specified for the issue but it is before 1834.
