Switching gears and looking for the market hole!!

The thread by mdwoods, which seemed to deteriorate somewhere after page two, caused me to ponder an interesting thought. Is there any period in U.S. Numismatic history, say perhaps a 10 year gap, where the issues are not collected?? It ocurred to me that all the angst about the current issues will pass into memory as they become just as interesting and collectible as every other prior coin minted by the U.S.

So help me out if you can. Is there any brief period in which the coins minted by the United States of America haven't been collected with great enthusiasm by hobbyists??
