jb- Thats one circ pattern that I would love to own. Someone made a fantastic circulation find with that coin!image
  • If I read the auction catalog right there are only 3 or so of them. If you win that one I would really like to see it at FUN.

    Hey JB,

What kind of registry points would I get if I had a pattern in my 1916-P slot? Has to be a lot better that a 16-D or a 45-P FB. I'm just looking for an edge! Now about refinancing my house..........

  • It's only a VF with scratches, take the 16d!

will be nice to see after Boiler78 wins it.

You could snag that Eliasberg and I would be jealous.

    Jason,

I believe I've seen that Eliasberg piece before - weak bands and weird tone slash across obv face area -nothing really hot - you've had and have many better merc's IMHO

    Hi Mercateers,

I'm agreeing with Marc, weak dime with a strong pedigree. How much is the name worth? Really nothing to me if it is not a premium dime. Buy the pedigree not the coin? Not me! Besides, I'm in a resting period now and for maybe 10 more days, then I'm back on the hunt! I need to sell all these dimes I have upgraded so I have some spending money!

How do they call this a Auction ? The starting price on the 24D is a hundred or so above Blue Sheet I believe. Looks more like a Ebay Sale to me. Is the start price the reserve on the coin ?

The Pattern Merc is cool though.

Ken- I don't believe that the start price has anything to do with the reserve. I believe ANR estimates what the lot should sell for and then calculates a start price at some percentage (say 75%???) of the estimate. Furthermore their system won't accept a bid below the start price so if they botch the pre sale estimate the consignor might not get a single bid!image I am sure that doesn't happen too often but IMO it is better to have a true auction and start with zero. I agree it feels too much like ebay in its current form.
