By the way 0john0, what does "Now that it is certain that this coin will finish too high for my budget I thought that I would post it on the boards here for all to see" mean?
Laurent,
It means that I would never post an auction on which I was bidding. Some people do not mind a bidding war, and some cannot afford one. I fall into the later catagory, and therefore did not want to attract any attention to the coin until it was certainly out of reach.
There are also two schools of thought on most hobby boards involving auctions. The first would say that if somebody posts an auction link that they were bidding on then the item is off limits. (I believe this line of thinking)
The other school of thought is that it is fair game to everyone, and up goes the price.
Personally I only snipe for items and if I have come across the item myself and am waiting for the last seconds to ambush, and then somebody posts it on the boards I might PM them a disclaimer that I was already watching the item and that no disrespect is meant if I snipe on it later, or I might just back off.
