those damnable french-first time I have felt cheated

I came across an 1881 30 centimes with beautiful blue and gold toning in AU55 on a french website I frequent. I didn't need the coin but it took my breath away-really unique and would have had pride of place in my collection. Received it Friday and out popped an absolutely untoned, clean as a whistle 1881 30 centimes. It has mint luster with cartwheel but I feel cheated! No response to my e-mail query yet either. Now I'm thinking, 8 months ago I would have liked it; today it's just another coin without the character the toning would have given it. Don't know if I should send it back or not-original shipping on this $30 euro coin was $5.80 Euro.image
I guess I'll just e-mail away until they finally answer...

What's the company? I have some friends in France who are real thugs. They'll get you a refund you can't refuse.

    We ARE watching you.

So it was a bait and switch? Well, at least the coin you received is OK. I've had such situations turn out worse. But it's still a bummer.

  • Well, most people prefer sending by registered mail. Look at the bright side, it'd cost more to send that same coin by registered mail US-->France
