PSA OVERSIZED header cards???

I just received a couple hundred submissions back from PSA and noticed that some of the incapsulated header cards if you will , seem not to lay flat in the space provided for it.
The Printed header card seems to be a little large and thus it bends upward in the holder or will have a warped like or slightlt waved appearance.
Is this normal ??
The reason I mention it, is that I think it takes away just a little from the attractiveness of the PSA holdered card in general.
Has anyone else noticed this recently, or is this just standard operating procedure??
In my opinion, the graded card would look nicer, if this graded header card would lay absolutely flat, in its incapsulated area.
This is just a small thing, but I feel it should be mentioned.
Many Thanks for your thoughts!!

    Kirk,
those are called "flips" in the card nerd world.
I too have gotten slabs back like that, I take it for a quality control issue.

    So FLIPS it is.
    Thanks for the insight Murcer.
Who do I contact re. the FLIPS??
    I've got LOTS OF FLIPS!
Received more in the mail today, and they do detract from the over all appearence of the graded product with out question.
Who's CHAIN NEEDS TO BE RATTLED??
Really I see no excuse for this.
This is plain and simple very poor quality control with out question.
Any help on who to contact in the chain of command??
    SO IT STOPS FOR EVERYBODY.
Should I give Joe Orlando a call......anyone have his extention??
Man what a hassle.......the shipping & insurance both ways should be bourn by PSA and the turn around should be next day.
Not a happy PSA consummer right now.
I just dropped TWO GRAND and half my cards need to be returned.
I can see a couple here and there, but there is no excuse for this.

  • mojorob,

I've had a few come back like that, but it never bothered me.

    Sky,
If it were just a couple, it wouldn't bother me either.
But when you have PSA 8's on 150.00 to 250.00 cards on up and the header card looks WAVEY GRAVEY, it would stick in your CRAW also, I would bet $$$$$$$ on it.
It is parmount to putting an expensive painting in a lousy crooked frame.
At least it is in my mind.
If it is a 25.00 card or cards, I would not give it a second thought.

  • mojorob,

I've had it occur in cards worth up to over $3,000 but even so it still was no big deal. Oh well, to each their own!

    Mojo.
I guess I'll have to pass on that Title PSA 9 image

edited to add: unless the flip is seated right.

    Murcer,
I don't remember you throwing your hat into the ring.
You will sleep better knowing that the PSA 9 TITTLE is PERFECT with no flips.
Then again, maybe you won't. image
As for Skycap, you have a three thousand dollar card that has a flip and it doesn't bother you in the least.
Well you my friend..... are a better man than I. image

    Kirk,
    let me clarify..
the printed paper label piece that is encalsulated in the "header" of the slab is called a "flip" by PSA.
this is basically a sticker that gets folded in half and placed between the plastic top and bottom pieces, just as your card does (OK, let's hope not folded in half) . the "sandwich" is then placed in a "sealing machine" and sonically sealed (yeah, I know ...ab-bra ca-dab-ra..poof...a slab is born).
Well, seems as there is a pressure adjustment on the sealer and increasing the pressure makes the seal harder to break, and ever since WIWAG the pressure seems to be cranked up... and this may be unseating the flips when they get sealed. I've been told The tall-boy holders have this problem magnified and the card can get sucked out the sides if cranked up.

    ...maybe Not.

edited to add: and.........I have absolutely no interest in your psa 9(s)
I want YOU to build a set better than mine in the end, now let's talk short term and that Tommy Mason image

    Murcer,
Now I don't know whether to believe you or not, as I kind of think you like being KING of the 62' Topps Football Hill.
Yea, I know there is someone else out there with a bunch of 9's.
But YOU are still the guy sitting on top of the registry mountain.
Truth be told, I don't think you really want anyone on top of that list other than the guy sitting there right now.
Just a hunch ......... call me crazy. image
So what will a low pop PSA 8 Tommy Mason bring me??
I can also throw in a Kathy Rigby rookie card, kind of a companion piece if you will.
Why is it , when ever I think of Kathy Rigby which of course is often, I can't seem to get the phase:
Flying Twisting Dismount ........out of my head??
Did I mention to you that I am a LONG SUFFERING Brown's fan and my favorite number is 32??
