Small Football Card Find Questions-- 68-71

I am a collector of baseball cards and know the post war set fairly well, but I am not too familiar with the Football sets prior to the 80s. As my neighbors are becoming aware of my collection of cards they are asking me to tell them the value of their collections. One neighbor brought me a box of beat up 76 Baseball that I had to tell him were worth well more to him than anyone else.

However, yesterday I looked through a box of abou 1000 cards from 68-71 that were all Football. The 71s especially were in nice condition. The first card the guy pulled was a Bradshaw RC and actually threw it across the table to me. The rule was quickly made that "we do not throw the cards." The Bradshaw was probably a 6 or 7, but several commons were much nicer. I also found some of the 1970 Glossy set that I have no idea how to judge quality. Those and some punch out cards that were found are what I have the biggest questions on. What do I look for in all of these sets in terms of condition sensitive areas? He also had quite a few of the poster's which I am again unsure of. I have since given him some sleeves, some Card Savers and a proper box to store them all in, but I would like to do a little more. Maybe I can get a new collector started.

Thanks for any and all information.
Looking for 77 cloth 9s and 10s.
54 Red Hearts
and now 64 Stand ups

  • Have submitted a few super glossy over the last few months. The grading on them is a bit hard to determine what they are looking at as I have both higher and lower results than expected. From what I can tell to date, centering is relatively critical but not a show stopper like other issues. R/L is somewhat judgeable and they seem somewhat flexible. T/B is not even clearly defined since there is no bottom edge that is detectable. If it is nicely centered to the eye, then it is probably OK. With thick card board and no corners, the surface seems a big deal. Look for small bubbles in the overlay laminate. Those seem to really knock your grade down big time. You will need bubble free or close to it to score high. Slight yellowing of the back is not an issue including up to grade 9. It seems to take snow white to get a 10.
No bubbles on the surface and even reasonable centering and your good to go, otherwise expect 6's and 7's.
69 4 in 1's are the punchouts ??? If so, no punch at all is the only way to go.
    Good LUck,
