Does the ANA "sell" your info?

GeomanGeoman Posts: 2,491 ✭✭✭
I have had a P.O. Box for about 8 months now. It is strickly for coins, and no other business. I hardly get anything, only the occasional coin I buy once a month. And usually a Cub Foods flyer twice a month. Recently, I joined the ANA. About 14 days after joining, I have been receiving a ton of crap. It usually is business supply magazines, etc. So when I check the box once a week, it is stuffed with a dozen or so "opportunities." This all started soon after I joined the ANA, and used the P.O. Box as my mailing address for the ANA. Never got more than 1 item a week before. Makes me wonder???

I looked at an ANA application lately, and it had a block to check if you did NOT want to receive mailings from outside sources other than the ANA...so I'd say yup...your address got shared with some folks.

It is very very common for businesses to sell their mailing lists and demographic info. It is in itself a huge business.

I hate that crap. I always look for that box to avoid my info going to anyone and everyone when I sign up for something.

    I absolutely can't STAND this OPT-OUT BULL$HIT!

You shouldn't have to OPT-OUT! You should be allowed to opt-IN if you want that crap!

You're automatically enrolled unless you expend YOUR OWN time and effort to OPT-OUT. That's why I look at the ANA as just another bunch of dickheads cluttering up the postal system and my mailbox.
