Is this 1901 shilling worth going after?

Coin money for this year has all but vanished, and yet... is this shilling a worthy one in everyone's opinion? Merci image

Oh yeah, add the linkimage1901 shilling iccs 64

The photos leave a lot to be desired, but the coin looks nice. I can't make out the toning, but unless they're lying, it's there. I like the coin. But those "slabs" annoy me.

Oh,the ICCS is the sweetest sl*b of the market; is it sealed? I've never bought an ICCS coin before.

The shilling looks very nice Laurent, albeit a little pricy imo.

Hmm... I think the shilling is one of the few coins I still lack for my daughter's 1901 Victorian type set... image

    Looks nice to me.

I would not call an ICCS holder a "slab", per se, as it is really little more than a sealed plastic flip, which makes it cheesy-looking to many American eyes. However, as Dimitri pointed out, ICCS actually has a superior reputation for accurate and conservative grading, from what I have heard, and are sometimes actually better than the U.S. bigshots like PCGS/NGC on world coins, particularly Canadian or British coins.

So I've heard. I've never owned an ICCS coin, either. I like that one, though.

Coin doesn't look good because it is in two plastic flips. Taking scans/photos of ICCS coins is tough because of this.

  • It looks like a nice enough coin, but maybe a touch pricy
So many coins, so little money!

  • Currently books at £60 UNC so around $100. Not one of the easier dates in the series but far from being scarce. Good seller feedback, good shipping cost, good graders (so you say), must be better than the scans....

Personally it doesn't have an edge to it - (no reason for wanting it) but I could understand someone buying it....

I don't have a strong view one way or the other...unfortunately that doesn't sound helpful.
