Is Bowers and Merena still in retail?

jacktheknife

I have been to their web site many times over the past couple months and haven't seen a change in what's posted. They have about 6 mid-grade Lincolns for sale (total value no more than a few hundred bucks). Makes me wonder if they are even in the retail business anymore.

i happened to go to thier website to check their auction archives and saw their online retail inventory

and yes they are still in retail but in a really small way from about a year ago

looks like?? most of the larger concerns are going the way of heritage? with auctions?

I just went to the site, and it seemed like they had quite a bit of stuff for sale.

OK, it's not really a huge selection of interesting items.

Shamika

They haven't added a single Buffalo nickel to their inventory since Bowers was given the boot.

Retail is secondary to their auction sales. I buy from other dealers who prefer retail sales. I get better coins and prices.

IrishMike

They never have been a serious retail dealer, way overpriced coins.

I think all their retail stuff got put into their auctions... ? They have been pretty skimpy lately.

DCAMFranklin

This way they can lose money at a slower pace!

jonesy

I have more inventory than them!!

Their auction schedule is way down too. From 6 to 4 major auctions. I think this is the first time in about 15 years they aren't going to have a January auction. Their Kingswood sales basically amounted to modern proof commems. Rumour has it that they're trying to lower the value of B&M so it can be sold to Paul Montgomery and turned into another bullion company.
