Inmate money

I had a gentleman show me something yesterday I had never seen or heard of before. He had several denominations of NC State issued inmate money. Tokens would perhaps be more appropriate. They were red and blue plastic in several denominations. Apparently they were circulated among the inmates and used to represent the value of their labor. I hadn't given it any thought prior to seeing the examples, but I think it pretty logical. Perhaps next week I can get a picture or two.

many years. Many of these are very difficult to acquire and often end up in the hands
of specialists. They make an interesting collection.
