Ending an auction early

I'm thinking of ending an ebay auction early. Anyone know if there is a penalty for doing this?

Thanks, mike

PS There are no bids on the auction.

  • Not sure if there is a penalty or not. What are you selling?

Keep in mind though many collectors will bookmark an auction to bid the last day or even the last few minutes. Please don't set up a repuation as someone who disapoints as the sting of rejection is long felt by those same collectors.

I'd imagine though, if you must end your auction, doing so when there are NO bids would (barely) not be crossing the line.

Thank you for your input. I had ordered two each of the US Mint's wildlife series, one to keep and one to sell. I had the eagle medal up for sell and decided I'd keep it in case I put the series in a display. I'd use this one for the obverse since it appears that it would be the least expensive. I canceled the sale.

    Thanks again, Mike
