Opus 264: THE WATCH ON THE RHINE (Die schwarze Wacht am Rhein), 1920, Cast AE, 58mm. To protest the sending of black colonial French troops to occupy the Rhine territory, and the sexual excesses. Inscription on the Obverse “The Watch on the Rhine!! – Liberty, Egality, Fraternity, 1920.” Inscription on the Reverse, “The Black Shame.”

I have the same medal in a variety so I'll be able to show one of each side

Yes but the other variety is not as revealing.

The 262 (a), the not as revealing piece, will have the soldier displayed, the 264 which is the most revealing will have the reverse up...I think this was the medal Goetz intended to have distributed, not the toned down one...

Well I'd call that a phallic symbol, but it's not much of a symbol.
