First attempt at photo

I have resurrected this message with a link that works!
May I solicit opinions from the members? These pics are pretty bad, but I would like your opinion. I am particulary interested in the flaw located at appoximately beginning at the "R" and contnuing past the "Y" in LIBERTY. I originally thought this was a scratch. I am now not sure. There seems to be a similar flaw on the opposite side of the coin, between the "L" & "I", that conitues through the date. This does not show well on the photo.
Being new to this hobby, this is a learning experience for me. I find this board very informative and really appreciate the time you all take to share your knowledge and experiences.
Thank You.

Do you have a copy stand? The picture seems out of focus, and blurry. Mine were the same way when I first started taking them. And I bought a cheapo tripod that I made into a copy stand for my digital camera. What a difference that made. Now my pics are nice and focused. I still am an rookie when it comes to taking pictures compared to some of these guys here. But I am learning. But getting a copy stand will help I think.
I can see it, but ......
Don't worry about your first shots not working out right - a lot of patience and practice does pay off. Get to know your camera and what it can do, look up posts on here on taking pictures and experiment with different types of lights and angles. In addition you'll want to take some time to get to know some of the editing software out there and what you can do to give your pictures a final touch. Pretty soon you'll be able to take some pretty cool pictures!

Thanks. A stand might help. I really have a difficult time keeping my hand steady and the camera focused. This was the best of about 30 shots that all went in the recycle bin! The reverse pic is so bad, I won't even try to post. It's a joke. I'll keep working on it, but not tonight. My patience is worn pretty thin.
If it is into the surface it is a scratch.
