Back in the '89-90 market PF 65 RED indian cents were only 1/3 to 1/4 the price of other similar rarity proof coins (like Barber dimes). They've actually outperformed them since due to the help of the registry thing. Based on how things stand now one could say that the Red Indian cents are fairly priced in relation to equivalent rarity proofs or overpriced somewhat. Barber and seated dimes of this trade for about the same money but are rarer. Those Barbers also don't have a huge supply of RB and BN coins sitting behind the Reds to help satisfy demand for the type.
I'd say the PF Indians are currently overvalued in comparison to other 19th cent era type coins such as PF 3cs. You can also find some issues where the Indian appears to be the better value such as the Barber half or Morgan dollar. Yet those 2 are decidedly popular SILVER type coins.
Give me the pretty toned "RB" and "BN" examples at fractions of the prices of the "RD" ones!
Edited to add: as just one quick example - the first 1879 Indian cent coin below is a PCGS PR66RB at about $600. The second is a PCGS PR66RD at more than 4 times the price:
I think some are, but I'm not telling! Pushkin, good to see you again. Goose, you better buy that coin fast - it's a bargain at that price and looks like a realy beauty....both Mark and I know where it is.

Boiler - looks even better in person, but you gotta wear sunglasses.

Goose - it's a 68Cam, pop. 1/0 for the entire proof IHC series. I don't do proofs seriously so it's my proof "type" coin.

Maybe Paul is enjoying a beautiful fall day like I'm about to do.....see you tonight. Hope he posts a pic or 2 of his toned proofs from the Moose.
