THIS MONSTER TONED MORGAN IS TAKING OVER MY BRAIN! Exquisite Beauty! WOW!!!

SeattleSlammerSeattleSlammer Posts: 10,055 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm psyched! I just purchased this mind-blowingly beautiful Morgan from Mike De Falco and Numismatic Enterprises. I've been looking for a toner with these colors for some time. It's hard to find truly neon bright deep turquoise--fuchsia/hot pink--lemon like this. Perfect and complete blending in a perfect top-to-bottom wave! Of course, I'm gonna be eating bread and water for a few weeks to cover the cost, but it's more than worth it to me.

By the way, Mike is a really nice guy!

Graded NGC MS64 STAR (duh!)

Simply fantastic. I have many diverse toned monsters but none in this combination. Great Job!

Thanks Doug, I agree, this particular color pattern is not often seen in these saturated shades (especially the turquoise). Mike said that he's only seen it a few times and most of those have been with 1886's......

    stman,

pretty coin!, also from Mike I believe.....1886 must have been a colorful year!

Thanks, yours is nice as well. Yes mine came from Mike. When you mentioned the turquoise and the year 86, I thought these had similar traits, so I had to post it. Wasn't trying to hijack your thread or anything.

hard to find colors on a morgan, both came from the same dealer... wonder what kind of oven he's using. J/K Those are wonderful coins and i wish i could add a coin half that nice to my collection. Congrats.

  • Sorry but........AT! image
  • Seattle Slammer,
I don't even like toned Morgans and I think that coin is absolutely gorgeous!!! WOW! Truly beautiful! Lucky you!
F#%K bread and water, if you find more of those, get them and just starve while looking at them!

When you look at my coin and than stman's coin, you can see the next colors that come into play (emerald/cherry) in the classic rainbow toning pattern--classic mintbag toning.

If by AT you mean Awesomely Toned, than you are correct!
  • Question to anyone:

With a toned Morgan like this one Seattle Slammer got, is their any chance that over time (many years) the toning can change any, for good or for worse? I'm asking because I really do not know the answer.

    mintluster,

that was my take on it, too. I've seen hundreds of rainbow morgans in my day, but this particular look is rare even for monsters--

Honestly, I think coins in slabs CAN change slightly over MANY years. My take on that is that I will be long gone before this coin changes enough for anyone to notice......and maybe it will get even better?!

    SS,

That's a beautiful coin....love those colors. It reminds me of one that's rapidly becoming one of my favorites which I now call Louisiana Lightning. Same blues and a trace of gold, but much more fuchia. Bought it within ten miles of home. I think Frank (FC57Coins) took a pic of it. If so, perhaps he can post it.

    ML,

Most naturally toned coins cease the toning process once removed from the original source of the sulfur. I've owned many bag toned Morgans for almost 20 years that haven't changed at all.
