Pinellas Park Fl Coin Show review

I just returned from the coin show in Pinellas park Fl.
It's a new show & smaller than the 2 shows held in clearwater twice a year, but I needed a urge to buy coins in person vs ebay which is what I prefer.
I immediately started in the back of the room looking for some bargains or for coins on my want list.
First 10 tables looking for ms 65 peace $$ was fruitless, found many 63/64's but kept hearing, you want 65's? Like they are super rare or something
Finally did locate a few dealers with some really nice Peace $ in 65. I finally purchased several NGC pieces, all at below bid. Dealers seemed to be ready to deal, & not just sit there & show off their coins
to the public
Next search was easier, trying to find ms 63 Saints. many to select from so was looking for some PQ examples. Found a bunch in the $525 range & purchased some really great looking coins. Passed on some ugly coins for higher prices. It really pays to shop around
Then hunted for some pre 64 deep cameo coins. Not much available, especially in PCGS.
Found some choice pieces at very reasonable levels
Again the dealers I dealt with were willing to deal & overall dealers very very nice to me even if i didn't buy from them. Many were willing to talk to you, a nice change from past experiences
Traffic for a friday was light but steady & seemed there were retail buyers in the room & dealer to dealer activity seemed to be going on to some degree
NTC was set up to grade coins there, but they had next to no action from what I saw in the 4 hrs I was there
One dealer tired to sell me a raw coin & said he would have NTC grade it for me on the spot, I passed on this incredible offer
It's funny when i ask for coins I always specify I ONLY want certified coins, but never telll them which services I want as I like to see what they try & offer me
After they offer me the drek services I tell them i only want PCGS or NGC & then they try & explain how SEGS coins are a bargain at 10% less than a PCGS slab
As expected NTC & NGC coins were plentiful here as they are based in Fla
PCGS coins were there but not in abundance as this show had few major dealers on hand Saw many Anacs slabs, & very few Accugrade slabs thank god. Every show I see less & less of ACG slabs, a great trend I might add & luckily hager wasn't on hand to slab coins
Lot's of proof sets were available & I mean a ton of them
some currency, foreign coins , & jewelry as usual, a pretty decent mix for a local show
Only 1 dealer even asked me if I had anything for sale, guess many dealers here were trying to sell & not buy
A few dealers had some really choice coins, the one that stood out was Sarasota Rare coin Gallery, a lot of different coins in all price ranges & prices were super for the quality , at least for coins I was familiar with
I purchased several items from they & would recommend them, very helpful & friendly people there
Well if you live in the Tampa bay area this show is worth the ride to go there & check it out
It's at the Pinellas Expo Center on US 19, free admission of course

Was there with MorganLuver today as well.
Thought the show was good. Spent a lot of $$$. Hopefully to make a few $$$.
Ran across a nice run of original Mint sets. Bought a 49, 53, 2 55's, a 56, and a 57.
Also bought 10-15 1950-1954 proof sets. One 53 and one 54 had a nice cameo quarter.
Picked up a run of 1965 SMS sets with cameo halves (about 10 of them).
Bought a nice 66 SMS with a nice cameo quarter.
Completed by West German 5 DM set with the purchse of a BU Eichendorf. A dealer had the tough 4 in multiples. I haven't seen that meny of the good ones together ever, and I've been to shows in Germany to boot!
Other than those little morsels, that was it.
Ike Specialist
Finest Toned Ike I've Ever Seen, been looking since 1986
I am glad you enjoyed this show. I have a terrible cold and will have to take it easy this weekend.
,but I look forward to seeing everyone at the Tampa show on Nov.15th.
