I just cracked my first slab

I busted an 1885-S morgan out of a nuMISTRUST slab that had it graded at MS 64. I will be submitting it to PCGS to see what they say about the coin.

Edited to add scans of the coin. I tried to get good pics with the camera but couldnt.

Maybe not. It came out of an NTC slab so the probability is high it will get a BB.

Hate to admit it,but it looks like they either got the grade right,or its just 1 point overgraded.

IMHO with my experience with PCGS and all the Morgans I have submitted I think you did the right thing.
That little honey is looking at a PCGS grade of MS63 or 64. Probably 64 if I was to bet money on it.

I think the weakness over the hair is from the scan. Strong breast feathers...curls over the date are sharp...eagle's head sharp....pretty clean in the prime focal areas. Assuming the scan is accurate, I'd say 64.

That's a sharp looking Morgan! It looks like it comes close to having some PL status too. I'm interested to see what grade it gets from PCGS. I'm interested in hearing about any crossovers from NTC slabs- I haven't had the guts to buy any NTC slabs and try it myself!

Even if it comes back an MS-62, it will have found a better home.
