Set Rating/Grade Points, how are the point calculated?

I need a refresher on how the set rating /grade points are calculated. I thought I knew, I did at one time. Specificly for Lincolns with bonus points for red, etc...

Thanks

  • PM me with your email address and I will send you an Excel spreadsheet that Paul P (Sonofgunk) put together to figure this all out for you. Its pretty cool since you can upgrade a coin and see what it does for your set.

    I am almost ready to post a new version
  • Ok, here it is:

    CG = Coin Grade
    CDB = Coin Deduction or Bonus from 'set weight table' (can be neg, pos or zero)
    CW = Coin Weight from 'set weight table'
    CTW = Coin Total Weight

    Coin Calculation CTW = (CG + CDB)*CW (do this for all coins in set)

    SW = Total of ALL Coin Weights from set weight table
    STW = Total of ALL CTW's from above calculations
    SR = Set Rating

    Set Calculation SR = STW/SW

    I hope this helps.

  • Do you know when this spreadsheet was created? I am very curious, as at that time my grade points were only 21...!

    Thanks
