Is there any PCGS warranty about the workmanship of the slab?

I just bought a bunch of PCGS coins in their newest slabs (I think). Anyway is looks like some of the coins are not straight inside the holder.

I can think of a dozen reasons not to have high capacity magazines, but it's the reasons I haven't thought about that I need them.

Tap the slab corner on the table and the coin will rotate around.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • To be honest I don't think they will re-holder it for free. It is definately an issue of sloppiness because the newest generation PCGS holders keep the coin in place tightly. So this means they were put in wrong. But they will not fix it for free.
Ask David Hall that quation in the Q&A forum.
  • Think they charge you 5$.

Sounds like the holder is straight, but the coins are crooked. I'd contact the person that I bought the coins from and complain!

What if the coin is completely upside down? In my latest submisson PCGS did this to my MS69 2002 saltlake $5.image

Those suckers aren't going anywhere inside the holder. Looks like they moved over a very long period of time or they were placed in the hole approximately 30-45 degrees off.

You have to tap them firmly. I tap them on a dish towel on top of the wood kitchen table. If you tap one bottom corner it will rotate
one way, tap the other bottom corner & it'll go the other way.

Quick story: I bought a 1938 D over D Buffalo that was holdered before the designation was made. I sent it in for designation review
so D/D would be noted on the label. Well it came back with the label I wanted, but the Indian's nose was pointed at the lower right
corner of the slab. I had a number of crooked coins in slabs at the time but this was the worst. I was ultra annoyed & not knowing
the tapping trick, I fired it right back to PCGS the next day with my feelings written on the submission form & told them I wasn't paying
a cent. Well a few days later I got a phone call from a gentleman (not sure who) & he told me the coin arrived perfectly straight in the
holder. He laughed & told me about the tapping trick, then had it reholdered & sent back at no charge. I appreciated the phone call
and felt stupid after learning how easy it was to straighten them out. One of the better customer service stories!

Edited to suggest: You can firmly tap them on a thick phone book too.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • Yes tapping does work, i did not believe it at first but it doesimage

The slab is crooked, not the coin!
