    it's a good one!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • 68 Butkus 10 - WOW - thanks for the heads up!

  • thanks. my watch list is groooowwwwingggggggggg
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
  • Do people think the 9 on the 53 Bowman Color Mantle is justified given the rough edge - I actually like the way my 8 looks better.
Collector of baseball PSA sets from the 1970's & hockey rookie cards; big New York Rangers fan (particularly now that they are sleeping with the enemy with Holik and Kaspiritus). Also starting to collect 53 Bowman Color as I think they are the most beautiful cards I have seen.
  • I saw several cards with rough edges and high grades (PSA 9s) Apparently, that is not an issue for getting a 9.
I need that 69 Bench ASimage

I just placed my initial bids/watch list...nice stuff!

Glad to see that the DVD and eBay Live bidding will be back.

  • Not one of their best for memorabelia unfortunately. However, you gotta love lot #614! Who said The Mick wasn't a gentleman??
  • Wow, lots of great stuff!

I swear that I saw 2 lots that were from the July auction. I will have to go check cert #'s if I can.

Very similar, but different cert #'s. I guess that the consignors liked the prices realized at the National.
  • I like the 68 Seaver!
  • I am looking forward to receiving the DVD. What song will Chris Porter sing on this one? image

    JEB.
  • Will we be receiving catalogs this time or do we have to buy them for $20? I thought I read this somewhere. Thanks for your help.

Normally, if you bid in the last few auctions, you will be sent a catalog free of charge.

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

There is some nice stuff in this auction. Good to see some high end basketball cards. Between this auction, the Sloate Auction and the Lipset auction a person could really go broke.
  • albie,

Check out lot #266, the 1954 Aaron.. Super sweet with great colors, but the lower LH corner of the slab is damaged, along with a few other marks.

Why this 9 wasn't reholdered before auctioning is beyond me.

  • I think that we should refer to some of these 10's as technical 10's, meaning they don't look like it, but they fall in under PSA standards.
  • I am a big collector of the 71 Topps set and have some 10's but I will definitely give the Seaver a miss.

  • That lower right corner cannot be considered mint. I've got 8s with sharper corners. Nice card, but pushing the grade big time.

  • The Seaver is OC and shouldn't be in a 10 holder IMO, but that's just me, I'm a fiend for centering.

Whoever won the "Monroe" Mantle autograph from Lelands earlier in the year should pick up that #614 lot, good stuff.
  • Direct from their website;

"Bidders may include consignors who may bid and purchase lot(s) in the Auction Sale consigned by the consignor or by other consignors pursuant to their consignment agreement with Superior ("Consignor" or "Consignors"). A Consignor that bids on their own lots in the Auction Sale may pay a different fee than the buyer's premium charged to all other buyers. Superior reserves the right to include in any auction sale its own material as well as material from affiliated or related companies, principals, officers or employees. Superior may have direct or indirect interests in any of the lots in the auction "

You may be bidding against the owners of the cards and Superior itself. To be fair, this is not an uncommon practice. Teletrade has a similar statement. Other places just do it.
