1877 Indian Anacs G4 good buy at $400?

Hi all, I guess I'm slowly starting to seek the key dates in some sets. I might have the chance to pick this up at this price.
The prices start to go up to high in higher grades for me so this is probably the highest grade that I could afford in this series. Is this a decent price or should I pass and keep looking? No distracting marks on the coin just wear.
Thanks for any opinions,
Tom

  • Acording to the PCGS priceguide,it would be worth 600$ in that grade, however, there is no one accurate priceguide for coins,so you may have to decide if its worth it.If I had 400$,yeah,I would look in to buying it.

For a solid G4 with no distractions and even wear and coloration, 400 bucks sounds OK to me, for an 1877 Indian in an ANACS slab. I think I would pay that, personally.

Edit to add: if the coin was net-graded Good, that would be different, of course...

You have to remember not to take the PCGS price guide with a grain of salt... while some guides aren't completely "accurate," this one isn't accurate in any way.

I have no idea about the price... sorry image

There is virtually no down side at that price. If you can afford it, go for it!

    Any chance of a pic??

  • I have seen ungraded POS G4's go for more than that on ebay - If I had an opportunity like that, I'd jump at it!!!

Its a good price. If you've seen the coin and its a no problem G4 and especially if the wear is even on both sides, you will have no problem getting your money (and then some) out of the coin when you get ready to sell. I like the legend to be readable and separated from the rims on the obverse for G4.

I don't think they make that much salt. You better bring salt, pepper, mustard, and a whole lot of ketchup to take with the PCGS price guide if you plan on using it.
