Do you feel the US Mint has been flooding the coin collector market since 1968?

With so many choices and only so much money available, are they becoming a "glorified" Franklin mint?

Are bullion coins truly coins? I realize thety have a value posted on them but if I took a $100 platinum to a bank, and asked to redeem it, would they call the cops on me? On the other hand, if they are truly coins, why can I not get them from a bank at face?

The Mint has certainly been cranking out the product. But I feel they've done a great job promoting coin collecting during the past 10 years. The Statehood quarter program, for example, has been wonderful for the rare coin market. Bcause of the Mint's efforts, there are a lot more collectors enjoying coin collecting. I think it's basically all good.

I believe that all bullion coins have legal tender status, but I might be wrong.
