    Hey James...

With a little chatter on the top and bottom, and some surface flaws around the neck area, I'll call it an 8. Gotta' look at it up close for a better guess....

The football discs are pretty common, and I've had good success grading them with one 9 and two 10's. Are the baseball that much tougher?

These last 2 were killing me.... no PSA 10's ever graded. Everyone has a print defect, water mark, and was low cut on the back. I was about to give up, but figured I'd try one last small batch (sub# 4070587).

    Glad I did!!

    James,

I don't think they're all that rare as much as there's isn't much demand so nobody sells them. About a years ago I put a lot of 10 football and a lot of 10 baseball 7-11 discs on eBay. The baseball discs had no bids. The football was pretty competitive because it had an '84 Marino. Still, the lot for football went for around $25 bucks for the 10 discs. Not so great.

Anyway, that convinced me to sit on them. I have around 200 discs from '84 and a couple from '85. Yes....I used to drink a lot of slurpee's in those days while cutting lawns to finance my baseball card collecting. I've gotta have 5-10 Boggs discs if yours is flawed.

  • James, that Boggs disc would probably grade a 9. i have a psa 10 sandberg disc that looks similar.

I would be intrested in those disc. I could choose which to submitt. Right now I have one to choose from. image More is always better Let me know what you want to part with them.

Goodridance189 Thanks for your opinion. Possible 9 is what I would like. Do you have a scan of the Ryno ?

  • i have several slurpee discs -- the only one I had graded came back a 10
  • Can anyone tell me what these discs go for in 9's and also 10's? I'm trying to gauge if they're worth grading.

The POP report for 1984 coins is as follows:

CARD NO NAME VARIETY 8 9 10 TOTAL
    Total: 4 3 1 8
    V GEORGE BRETT WESTERN REGION 0 1 0 1
    VII STEVE GARVEY WESTERN REGION 0 0 1 1
    XII REGGIE JACKSON WESTERN REGION 1 0 0 1
    XX1 RICKEY HENDERSON WESTERN REGION 1 1 0 2
    VIII ROD CAREW WESTERN REGION 0 1 0 1
    XIII NOLAN RYAN WESTERN REGION 1 0 0 1
    XVIII DUSTY BAKER WESTERN REGION 1 0 0 1

I live in New Jersey so does that mean there are none graded from the east coast?

  • I would be interested in the Carew, if it is for sale.

GoSox - 7-11 put out sets several years that resembled 1981-82 Topps Basketball in their distribution. Some of the players were national distribution (12, IIRC), while there were multiple regions around the country where an additional oup of 12 players was released. AFAIK, each 7-11 store was assigned to particular geographic region, so a "local set" would have been complete at 24 players.
I've found the national release players to often sell on eBay and at card shows for less than the Slurpees cost back then ($.59).

So you would agree they're hardly worth grading? Accept of course for player sets.

    GoSox -

Do you have any of the 1984 7-Eleven Football discs left?

Since we've established here that they're pretty much worthless..... I wouldn't want you tripping over one of them and hurting yourself (you know how painful those disc accidents can be).... anyway, I'd be willing to take some of the mint ones off of you hands, if you still have some laying around.

What did you all say..... 59¢ each .... or something image

PM me if you have any "gemmy" football discs
