The Columbian half holds special memories for me because it is the first of about 3 coins I've ruined unintentionally by cleaning. When I was about 12 I had two of them I got from my grandmother, they were both darkly toned. So I decided to clean one with silver polish. It came out nice and shiny!
Xpipedreamr: I think most of us did the same things when we were young. I remember cleaning a bunch of Frankies, Walkers, silver Jeff nickels, etc., around 1960 or so. My dad was in the merchant marine and brought home some silver polish cream from Germany. Damn, it worked fine! The coins looked proof-like by the time I was done. I still have some of them in Whitman folders from the same period.
Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all that he has done. --Colossians 2:7
