It does look a bit undergraded based on the scan, but I am more interested in the toning. Most Mercs from the teens exhibit dark brown and gray characteristics if toned. Some examples have gold peripheral toning, but only a few have the primary rainbow colors or attractive ruby red /pink. I have seen a few with greens and blues, but the premiums are mindboggling.
This look like a solid choice unc. 1917 with exceptional eye appeal.

You might want to check out the pictures of his other auctions.

That toning could well be an artifact of his camera skills. He shows many other coins with the same colors.

After I checked 2 or 3 of them it became a pattern.

I'm wondering if that color isn't a reflection. Either way, It looks pretty nice and not too expensive.

Yes, you guys are correct, the other coins have the same reflection. Either way, if the toning is not there, the price paid for a nice choice 1917 is a good one.
