1952 Topps Mantle question...

I have the chance to purchase this card but first I'd like everyone's help with answers to a few questions. I know the scans are not very good but bear with me. First, does this card look legit? I've never seen a reprint so off-center, but then again I'm no expert. Second, is this cad trimmed? It looks from the back that it is, but from the front it looks OK, to me anyway. Finally, if this card is legit and unaltered. would it be better to send it to PSA and get a higer grade with a qualifier (maybe a mc?) or to send it to GAI, Beckett, etc. and get a lower overall grade without a qualifier? Thanks for your help

  • I'm trying to get the scans to come up, although you should be able to see the back of the card by clicking on the first or second scan in the above post
  • Auction for the same type of card...

Complaint: "Copied" fake card. Had to know it was not original. Refused refund request.
Response by northern_specialties - As stated in my description, I was uncertain.

So I would avoid the one you are looking at

  • The card does not look good to me from the scans. If you feel that it is okay, settle on a price and then send it to PSA, GAI or SGC for grading and settle up the money when you have the authenic card in your hand. You could even pay for the grading if you believe it is real. If they need the money sooner, send it in with your return address and pay upon the posting of the grade. Another choice is to get them to agree in writing to the conditions that you want.
