1974 Topps Deckle Set

A second 1974 Deckle set has been added to the set registry. A nice set of cards and very difficult to find in PSA 8 and 9 condition, 10's are very rare. If owner is interested in trading or selling please let me know.

  • Those cards are difficult to find - PERIOD. 9's must be ridiculous and 10's I would think near impossible. What are the POP's like?
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

    Oh.........the horror !

    ...............a modern mioracle?

If you have white backs let me know.
I also have a few hundred graded, mostly undergraded SGC's from before PSA did tall-boys.
all my commons are looking for new homes.

It's an OK set, but the original photos were all color negatives, actually the '74 puzzle set is a parallel issue using those very same photos of the 12 biggest stars (the proofs are very sharp BTW).
But when you make a B&W print from such, only a magician like Griffins can sort out the contrast.
anyways some of those "mugs" are a bit harsh on the eye.

My favorite cards from the set are Munson, Ryan and Fisk (that's right a lowly Bosocking)

    Tommy.
Drop me an e-mail. The guy just e-mailed me and introduced himself.
I actually told him to buzz you for the same.
wow.......I never thought of myself as a match-maker

    Murcerfan,

I cannot believe what the smr has those for...and you have a few hundred. You may be able to buy some investment grade 1968 3D's with the proceeds. My cards will be all 9s so I will not need any upgrades--Mr. Mint never lies.
And i probably have a couple hundred more modern ungraded sets in total.

I meant singles not sets of course.
actually, for the record i have 2 sets plus about 20 extras so I guess more like 160.

    anyhow,
Some of the biggies will get you SMR........ (thanks Joe!)
but the rest of the set struggles, at least on our beloved Ebay.
I think Marty Pritchard got real high prices for some he sold.
    (OK Marty....bring on the spam).
  • Okay Dave since you asked for it,
    1974 Deckle Spam
I had a very strong set that I sold several cards to some of members of this board, and yes I have sold most for over book. To the best of my knowledge, Dave still has some of them. I talked to Joe Orlando when I was at Fort Washington about adjusting some of the prices for this set. I have email him about prices that I have received at shows and off of my web site, not auctions.
    Today I received the following email from a purchaser of one of my Deckle cards;
WOW!!!!! WHAT A CARD!!!!!!! THANKS MARTY.
I KNOW I PAID OVER BOOK---BUT WHO CARES!!!

I hope that this is not too much spam, but I was invited.

    Marty,

I like the way you sell your quality stuff to people on the boards before ebay.

    Keep it up.
